Agapetae Press

Writer's Guidelines

Authors interested in being considered for publication by Agapetae Press should submit an email query to Rose Valesi (rose@agapetae.press). A successful query is ideally a zipped package including the following:

  • A letter introducing yourself and your story. Please note all factors you think might make this a successful publication.
  • Your professional bio, including links to any prior published material.
  • A summary of your work.
  • A first chapter or scene of the work.

If you are pitching a series, please provide a summary of the series as a whole, as well as the first book.

F.A.Q.

Does Agapetae publish reprints?
No: to be considered for publication by Agapetae, all work must be original, and unpublished. This includes self-publishing or posting on any public forums or sites.
Does Agapetae offer an advance?
In our founding year, Agapetae will offer a nominal advance of $50 against royalties. Because this is an embarassingly small advance, we will be offering higher-than-average royalties.
What Royalties does Agapetae offer?
In our founding year, Agapetae will offer 27% of net sales. This will be deducted from the advance until that is met, and then paid monthly on the last day of each month. A full report of sales will be provided with each royalty statement.
What Rights does Agapetae purchase?
Agapetae Press purchases Worldwide English Language rights for print, electronic, and audio formats for three years from publication.
What formats does Agapetae publish in?
Agapetae will publish in digital form for works under 80,000 words; and digital and print for novel length works. Audio book formats are on our radar, and for the right success story we will make that happen also.
What does Agapetae do to make my book awesome?
Agapetae's editorial team will work with authors to ensure the final product is as good as it can be, including the right cover art, with editing and copy-editing in collaboration with the author.
